The trip to get there is an experience itself..\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Gjefsj\u00f8en mountain farm is owned and operated today by Nils Christian Gjefsj\u00f8. The main activity has been farming with sheep, but tourism is a growing additional industry and Gjefsj\u00f8en offers both accommodation, dining, boat rental and boat transport. There are also good opportunities for hunting and fishing in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Just the trip to get to both Gjefsj\u00f8en and the other mountain farms in Sn\u00e5sa will be able to provide great nature experiences, and when you arrive you will be able to experience how mountain farming has been run through history and is run today.<\/p>\n<p>Both Gjefsj\u00f8en and Gaundalen are mountain farms that are still inhabited and that run ordinary farming and tourism. Holden Fjellg\u00e5rd is run as a barn in the summer and Gress\u00e5moen Fjellg\u00e5rd is uninhabited, in both it is possible to rent accommodation in the farm buildings. On the Swedish side of the border is Bj\u00f6rkede mountain farm by the river between Gjevsj\u00f8en and the neighboring lake Holderen.<\/p>\n<p>The farm produces its own electricity. Today&#8217;s facilities include a diesel generator, solar cells, battery bank and a wind turbine. From there, the marked path &#8220;Gjefsj\u00f8stien&#8221; is 22 km into Gjefsj\u00f8en mountain farm.<\/p>\n<h3>Boat ride across Gjevsj\u00f8en from the Swedish side<\/h3>\n<p>From E6 in Verdal &#8211; national road 72 to Sandvika\/Swedish border &#8211; further towards J\u00e4rpen on road 336 &#8211; turn left just before Kallsedet &#8211; follow the road past \u00d6vereng to Bj\u00f6rkedet. From there there is a road closed with a locked barrier up to the lake Gjevsj\u00f8en. In total approx. 150 kilometres from Verdal. Contact us for a code for the lock or to order a boat ride.<\/p>\n<h3>Winter time<\/h3>\n<p>In the winter you can get to Gjefsj\u00f8en by ski or by snowmobile from Ismenningen in Sn\u00e5sa or by crossing the lake Gjevsj\u00f8en from Bj\u00f6rkedet in Sweden. Traditions that are still maintained by those who live there today. The farm has been inhabited since the 1790s. The saboteurs had their base on the mountain farm. Operation Rype&#8217;s goal was to sabotage the railway to delay the withdrawal of German troops. It is made as a tribute in honor of Operation Grouse which operated from their head office on Gjefsj\u00f8en farm in the mountains on Sn\u00e5sa at the end of World War II.
